Pair charged following barricade incident in Kingswood

A man and a woman have been charged following a barricade incident in Sydney’s west this morning, NSW Police say.

About 6.30am (Saturday 22 December 2018), police attended a unit block on the Great Western Highway, Kingswood, to speak with a 61-year-old woman in relation to a domestic-related incident, and a 27-year-old man in relation to an outstanding warrant.

On arrival of officers from Nepean Police Area Command, the pair allegedly barricaded the door and made threats to cause an explosion.

It’s alleged a male constable was sprayed with spray paint through a hole in the door.

Other residents were evacuated by police as a precaution.

Following negotiations, the pair exited the unit and were arrested by police, before being taken to Penrith Police Station.

The woman was charged with possess explosive/gunpowder with intent to injure, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, and assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm.

The man was charged with the outstanding warrant for a break and enter offence, and breach of bail.

They were both refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 23 December 2018).
