The City of Casey's much anticipated off-leash dog park at Casey Fields is finally open to the community.
Council advocated for this much needed dog friendly space for over a year due to the growing Cranbourne East resident and dog populations.
The City of Casey is committed to providing high quality dog friendly spaces across the municipality and acknowledges the important role they play in providing a safe space for both animals and owners to use.
The State Government showed its commitment to the project by contributing $275,000 towards the $330,000 cost.
The purpose-built space provides a high quality, uber modern, dog friendly environment that can be enjoyed by both two and four legged residents.
The fenced off park has double entrance gates ensuring safety for all visitors as they enter and leave the space.
Whilst the facility provides an abundance of areas for dogs, it also has plenty of seating, including a sheltered seating area where residents can relax and meet up with other dog owners (shielded from the elements).
City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM said she cannot wait to see the benefits this new facility will bring pet owners throughout Casey.
"This new facility is demonstrative of our promise to provide our community with plenty of opportunities to exercise and connect with one another," Ms Duff said.
"The past year has been a challenging one and reinforced the importance of open-spaces. The off-leash dog park allows community members to socialise in a wonderful purpose-built environment with their beloved dogs.
"The Council is also aware how difficult forced lockdowns, and restrictions on movement have been on our residents and the off-leash dog park shows our commitment to ensure that everyone in our community has safe recreational spaces.
