PD Rusty finds stolen car in car wash

A tracking device assisted police in locating a stolen vehicle in Morphett Vale last night.

About 7.45pm Sunday 28 May police were called by the victim after he reported that he was currently away from home, but he believed his white Subaru had been stolen from Aberfoyle Park.

The victim had a tracker in his car and reported to police that it was on the move, while it should be at home in the garage!

The victim was able to provide live updates to patrols as he tracked his car through Morphett Vale. The stolen vehicle then came to a stop at the corner of Panalatinga Road and Solace Drive, Morphett Vale.

PD Rusty arrived at the scene first and found that the stolen Subaru was on a car trailer being towed by a Blue Holden and was currently parked at a car wash. PD Rusty detained the driver of the Holden, a 41-year-old Morphett Vale man, while extra patrols arrived to help secure the vehicles.

Police had cause to search the Holden, allegedly finding a trafficable amount of methamphetamine and almost $2000 inside.

The 41-year-old man was arrested and has been charged with illegal use of motor vehicle and traffic in controlled drug. He was refused bail will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.

The Subaru has been returned to its owner, while police seized the car trailer as they suspect it may also be stolen.
