Goulburn Mulwaree Council has completed the replacement of the aging concrete floor at Peden Pavilion within the Goulburn Recreation Area, delivering a safer, cleaner and more versatile space for community events, markets and visitors, thanks to $688,300 in grant funding from the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund.
The previous cracked and uneven surface presented safety, hygiene and operational challenges, particularly for food vendors and event organisers. The new concrete floor provides an attractive, durable and easily maintained surface that supports a wider range of activities and improves the overall visitor experience.
Mayor Nina Dillon said the project represents an important investment in a much-loved community facility. "Peden Pavilion is home to some of our region's most successful community events. This upgrade improves safety, accessibility and hygiene standards while creating new opportunities for community groups, businesses and event organisers to utilise the space," Mayor Dillon said.
Minister for Lands and Property Steve Kamper said the project demonstrates the value of investing in community infrastructure. "The NSW Government is focused on building better communities, so it's great to see the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund program support these upgrades at the Goulburn Recreation Area,"
"The completion of the new floor at Peden Pavilion will enhance the visitor experience, support local events and create more opportunities for the community to make use of this valued facility." Minister Kamper said.
Council also has approval to utilise underspent project funds for additional improvements, including large ceiling fans, drainage works and pavilion pillar painting to further enhance comfort, safety and amenity for the community which will be completed at the end of 2026.
