Pedestrian critically injured after being hit by van - Casula

A pedestrian has been critically injured after he was struck by a van at Casula today.

Emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, near the intersection of Casula Road, about 12.40pm (Thursday 7 January 2021), after a Kia Carnival left the road and hit a man who was walking along the footpath with a friend.

A man – believed to be aged about 20 – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for multiple injuries. He has been taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command attended and arrested a 38-year-old man, who was the driver and sole occupant of the van.

The man, from Harrington Park, has been taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.

The other pedestrian escaped injury.

Two lanes southbound on the highway will be closed for some time while officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit examine the scene.
