Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle - Davey St in Hobart, TAS

A 61 year old Mangalore man has died after being struck by a vehicle in Davey St, Hobart, this morning, Tasmania Police say.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene about 9.30am.

The man was attempting to enter the passenger side of his parked vehicle on Davey St near the Collegiate Pool when he was hit.

The man was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital, but sadly, he was pronounced deceased.

Inspector Rob Blackwood thanked members of the public who assisted at the scene.

Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Motorists are advised that Davey St between Molle Street and Murray Street will remain closed for several hours while the scene is clear.

Please avoid the area if you can.
