Pedestrian dies after crash - Bankstown PAC

A pedestrian has died following a crash with a truck in Sydney's south west today.

About 1pm today (Thursday 17 February 2022), emergency services were called to the intersection of Chapel Road and Irvine Street, Bankstown, following reports of a truck colliding with a pedestrian.

The male pedestrian, aged 77, died at the scene.

The truck driver – a 42-year-old man, was not injured and taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command secured a crime scene which will be examined by specialist officers.

Police are appealing for witnesses, including motorists with dashcam vision, to contact Bankstown Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
