Pedestrian dies after crash - Epping 20 March

A pedestrian has died after a suspected hit-and-run at Epping earlier this month.

Emergency services were called to Boronia Avenue about 7.45pm on Monday 6 March 2023, after a resident heard a loud noise and came out to find a man lying unconscious on the roadway.

Officers from Ryde Police Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics rendered assistance until a medical team was brought to the scene by the Toll helicopter, which landed on a tennis court in Grant Close.

The 78-year-old Epping man was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition suffering severe head and internal injuries.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation and established that a light-coloured sedan was driving along Boronia Avenue about the time the man was believed to have been struck.

About 3.20pm yesterday (Sunday 19 March 2023) the man died at Royal North Shore Hospital.

As inquiries continue officers are appealing for the driver of the vehicle – or anyone who saw the vehicle or has dashcam vision which may be relevant – to come forward to the CIU or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
