Pedestrian hit by car in Ashfield

Emergency services remain on scene after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Ashfield this morning, NSW Police say.

About 6am (Thursday 16 August 2018), police were called to Somerville Avenue following reports a woman, believed to be aged in her 60’s to 70’s, had been struck by a car.

The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious condition.

The 28-year-old male driver was uninjured and will be taken for mandatory testing.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command, with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit, have established a crime scene and are investigation the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Milton Street, Liverpool Street and Arthur Street are closed and will remain closed for a number of hours. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and check www.livetraffic.com for the latest information.
