Pedestrian hit by car in Woonona

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Woonona overnight, NSW Police say.

About 7.45pm (Tuesday 16 October 2018), emergency services were called to Park Road, Woonona, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

Police have been told the pedestrian, a 64-year-old Woonona man, was crossing the road in a southerly direction when he was struck by a Ford Falcon sedan.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being airlifted to St George Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The driver, a 53-year-old Wollongong man, was uninjured. He was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Wollongong Police District attended and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
