People's Panel meet to help guide strategic future direction of our shire

Cardinia Shire Council's Imagine Cardinia consultation has reached a new milestone, with the People's Panel holding its first meeting on 28 January.

Imagine Cardinia is a major consultation process to help guide Council's strategic direction over the coming years with input sought on the Council Plan, Community Vision, Financial Plan, and Budget.

The People's Panel is a representative group of residents who are further helping Council to guide the development of these plans.

Cardinia Shire Council Mayor Councillor Brett Owen thanked the People's Panel's participants for their time and invaluable assistance in developing Council's major plans.

"The People's Panel is representative of our diverse community, bringing together 50 people from different townships, age groups, and cultural backgrounds to learn about and discuss our shire's future direction during a series of sessions.

"The panel is looking at all of the information, feedback and submissions from the community in Round 1 of the Imagine Cardinia consultation, which included almost 1300 contributions from community members," Cr Owen said.

Cr Owen said the panel will then produce recommendations for Council Plan priorities and a draft Community Vision, which will inform the budget and 10-year financial plan.

"The panel will also hold its own consultation as part of the process to check in with the broader community about its recommendations to Council," Cr Owen said.

The second round of consultation open to the broader community will be held from 17 February to 3 March.
