Pepis Land lower dam wall

Cardinia Shire Council officers and engineers are investigating the wall of the lower dam at Pepis Land, Emerald.

The decades-old dam has been affected by many wombat burrows on or near the dam wall, causing water to seep from the dam and affecting the structure of the dam wall.

A temporary fence has been installed at the site to restrict visitors to the park from walking near the dam wall. Council has also lowered the water level in the dam to a safer level to relieve any pressure on the wall in the short-term while further works are investigated.

Council is acutely aware of community safety and recognises the importance of the dam to the surrounding environment.

Council is monitoring the situation closely and working quickly to resolve the issue.
