Perseverance Hall Road Bridge Completed in Ravensbourne

The recent completion of bridge construction works over Perseverance Creek on Perseverance Hall Road at Ravensbourne also marked the conclusion of project works for Council's contractor, Georgiou Group, and their contribution to Toowoomba Regional Council's (TRC) 2022 Flood Recovery Program.

TRC Construction and Maintenance (Infrastructure Services) portfolio spokesperson, Cr Carol Taylor, saidthe construction of the bridge by Council's northern contactor, Georgiou Group, had been an essential part of the 2022 Flood Recovery Program.

Cr Taylor said the project included replacing the pre-existing culvert that was damaged in the 2022 flood event with an improved bridge solution, which was designed to better withstand future flood events, reduce environmental impacts and improve traffic flow by widening the road carriageway.

"This project has delivered much-needed improvements, ensuring safer and more reliable access for motorists, and a more resilient creek crossing which will have better outcomes for the community and the environment," Cr Taylor said.

"Council and Georgiou Group have worked together to deliver this project under challenging circumstances, given recent wet weather across the Region, while adhering to strict environmental requirements.

"We appreciate the effects a road closure can have on the local and broader community, and we sincerely thank the Perseverance Hall Road community for their cooperation while we carried out these critical works across the Christmas period and into 2025."

Cr Taylor said the bridge project was one of the final remaining REPA (Reconstruction of Essential Public Assets) projects to be completed for the 2022 Flood Recovery Program, with six Betterment projects remaining. (The Betterment program supports assets being restored to a more resilient standard.)

The 2022 Flood Recovery Program has delivered repairs to more than 1,500 roads and replaced more than 100 damaged culverts across the Toowoomba Region since September 2022.

"We appreciate the community's patience and cooperation throughout the 2022 Flood Recovery Program construction phase while we focussed on restoring the region's road network to a safer and more resilient standard for years to come," Cr Taylor said.

"We are very grateful for the ongoing support and financial assistance provided for these projects by the jointly funded Australian and Queensland Governments' Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA)."
