Perth's south to get 1,500 new homes in $350 million tri-part deal

  • 94.1 hectares of land developed across three south metropolitan sites, creating jobs and boosting the local economy
  • Projects to shape urban development in Perth's south for next decades
  • A $350 million collaboration between the McGowan Government and private industry partners will see more than 1,500 lots developed for housing in Perth's south-east metropolitan region and create hundreds of jobs.

The Department of Communities and LWP Property Group will oversee the development of 94.1 hectares across three State landholdings in Casuarina, Forrestdale and Treeby.

These projects will shape the urban development of Perth's south for the next decade and beyond - delivering affordable housing, thriving communities and an active response to the evolving needs and lifestyle preferences of locals.

The range of proposed product across the varied sites will result in unique communities designed around maximising choice, amenity, lifestyle and connectivity.

Most importantly, these benefits will be delivered to wide and varied market segments and cater for all stages of peoples' lives.

In addition to its experience as a project partner, LWP Property Group is an innovative, front-foot partner sharing the Department's aspiration to leading-edge urban and community development.

The latest agreement will build on the success of previous successful collaboration projects such as the Government's recently awarded Amble Estate in Girrawheen and the Brabham development in the Swan Valley announced in October.

As stated by Housing Minister Peter Tinley:

"This partnership will showcase then many positive possibilities when government and the private sector work together to create communities that evolve to meet changing needs.

"Although each project will have a unique flavour, these developments will provide an ongoing supply of affordable housing land in the south metropolitan area, with appropriate access to transport, employment and education opportunities.

"This agreement will bring much-needed diversity and choice to the south metropolitan area and support the McGowan Government in achieving a number of its key strategic affordable housing outcomes for people on low-to-moderate incomes under this agreement.

"The McGowan Government will continue to work with the private sector to increase the supply of new housing, with a firm focus on the affordable end of the market."
