The Green Party co-leader Chloe Swarbrick has sent out a press release showing both her blistering ignorance and the reason why the Greens have never been in Cabinet in their fifty-four years of existence.
Swarbrick has accused me of not seeking or receiving any advice on what it would mean for New Zealand to withdraw from the Paris Agreement.
She said "Peters is officially responsible for our international climate negotiations and managing our trade agreements." This is wrong.
It is the Minister for Climate Change and Minister for Trade who are responsible for those two things.
After all her time in parliament she has proven she has learnt nothing. This is from someone who wants to be the Minister of Finance sitting around Cabinet making decisions for New Zealand.
Her press release talks about the Greens and "honest politics" when their press release is a demonstrable lie.
As leader of New Zealand First I called for our country to withdraw from the failing Paris Agreement.
The Greens can carry on proving to be a bunch of woke clueless globalists, but in the real world kiwis with common sense are backing a party called New Zealand First who puts our economic and national sovereignty and decision making ahead of any fairytale globalist agendas.
Around sixty percent of the worlds CO2 emissions come from four countries - China, United States, Russia, and India. New Zealand's emissions amount to only around 0.17%.
The Paris Agreement obligations could cost our economy up to $22 billion of taxpayers money being sent offshore, despite food production having meant to be exempt.
Why are we making a rod for our own backs, punishing our farmers and our taxpayers and our economy, when China or the US could sneeze and produce more CO2 overnight than we do in a year?
The implication that because the Paris Agreement is written in Free Trade Agreements it means that ties us to it is simply erroneous. Countries are not going to pull-out of mutually beneficial trade agreements because we pull out of Paris.
We need to stop this nonsense.
