Bayside Council is holding a free community event in Sir Joseph Banks Park to mark the completion of upgrades to the car park and amenities building on Saturday 7 November at 10am.
Everyone is welcome to come along, explore the new facilities and celebrate this exciting milestone and enjoy a fun-filled morning with live music, face painting, mini cupcakes, a coffee van and a special visit from the Dragon Mobile Zoo.
Sir Joseph Banks Park is one of Bayside's most treasured open spaces, bringing together families, friends and visitors from across our local area to enjoy the outdoors, stay active and connect with nature.
Council recently completed major upgrades to the park's amenities and parking facilities. These works delivered modern public amenities, including six toilets, an accessible toilet, a unisex family toilet and an open wash basin, providing greater comfort and convenience for visitors.
The car park has also been upgraded to increase parking capacity, improve accessibility and address flood-related issues, making it easier for more people to access and enjoy this wonderful park.
Bayside Mayor Dr Christine Curry said
"Over the past few years, Council has been investing in the park to make it even more welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.
"These investments are about more than just infrastructure. They are about creating spaces where families can spend time together, children can play, and people of all ages and abilities can connect with their community.
"Council remains committed to ensuring this much-loved park evolves with it and continues to be a place where everyone feels welcome."
