Pinjar scrub fire series

Strike Force Vulcan officers are investigating a series of scrub fires on and near Koala Road, Pinjar within the Gnangara-Moore River State Forrest (Pine Plantation).

Since mid-2021, several scrub fires have been reported to Department of Fire and Emergency Services and Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions. The frequency of scrub fires in this area escalated between December 2021 and March 2022.

On Saturday, 12 March 2022 three suspicious fires were lit in the area around 8:10am, 12:50pm and 2:25pm. All fires were in close proximity to several houses within the nearby Banksia Grove Estate which posed a significant safety risk to residents.

Strike Force Vulcan officers urge anyone with CCTV, mobile phone or dash-cam vision of these fires, or any suspicious people/vehicles in the area around the above times, to upload the vision direct to them at https://wapf.au.evidence.com/axon/citizen/public/130322095512006

Anyone with information relating to these fires is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au. Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
