The City is progressing plans to create high quality sporting and community facilities in one of the Gold Coast's largest and most visited parks.

The long-term Pizzey Park Master Plan was established in 2021 in collaboration with local sporting clubs and community organisations and now the City is asking for the community's input.

"The plan we have in mind aims to transform Pizzey Park into a world-class destination for sport, recreation, and lifestyle in the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games," said Mayor Tom Tate.

"As part of the upgrade a community hub and celebration lawn are planned to significantly enhance Pizzey Park's capacity for both elite sportspeople and recreational users.

"These upgrades will help us meet the growing demands for sporting and community facilities on the Gold Coast as our population continues to grow."

The key objectives for the masterplan include:

  • Improved traffic flow and safer access to the park
  • Accessible pathways linking all areas
  • A green recreational spine through the precinct
  • High-quality facilities for all levels of sport
  • A central hub for community celebration and events

The proposed hub would be a multi-functional space with the following features for the community:

  • A celebration lawn to hold events for up to 10,000 people, including carols, movies in the park and markets
  • An indoor BMX and skate facility for community and high-performance use
  • A high-performance centre
  • An indoor sports facility with clubhouse and a café
  • An adventure playground
  • Outdoor fitness equipment
  • Upgraded playing field and multiuse courts
  • Traffic improvements and additional car parking

The proposed hub would be located in the area between the skate park and pump track, which currently has a pond, grassed area and weed-infested vegetation.

Share your thoughts on the next stage of the Pizzey Park Master Plan and help shape the future of this precinct.

Community engagement runs from Tuesday 14 October to Monday 3 November 2025.
