Gold Coast police are reminding road-users to expect delays as the city prepares to host the Gold Coast Marathon this weekend.
To support the event, police-controlled road closures will be in place across the weekend, with significant traffic impacts expected across key areas of the Gold Coast.
Acting Superintendent Jason Tuffley said the marathon was a major event on the city's calendar and asked the community to plan ahead and be patient.
"The Gold Coast Marathon brings an influx of thousands of people to our city, and we're committed to keeping everyone safe across the weekend," Acting Superintendent Tuffley said.
"We ask road-users to expect lengthy delays, be mindful of changed conditions, and seek alternative travel routes where possible.
Officers and traffic controllers will be working hard to keep things moving and minimise inconvenience to those travelling on our roads."
Access to properties along the course will be managed under the direction of police and traffic controllers; however, residents are encouraged to make alternative arrangements if possible and allow additional travel time.
