Following the release of the Southern Tasmanian Regional Land Use Strategy for consultation, the Tasmanian Government is working to finalise drafts of equivalent strategies for northern Tasmania and the Cradle Coast.
The Northern Tasmania Development Corporation and the Cradle Coast Authority will receive an additional $100,000 each to complete the drafting of the new land use strategies, with an expectation they are delivered to Government by 30 June this year.
Both draft strategies will be released for community consultation in the second half of 2026.
Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said modern land strategies are vitally important.
"As Tasmania grows and our regions change, we must adapt and look forward to how we plan for our future," Minister Vincent said.
"The Tasmanian Government is working alongside the Northern Tasmania Development Corporation and the Cradle Coast Authority to draft new land use strategies.
"These new drafts will shape the future of these growing regions and maintain Tasmania's way of life, ensuring the right balance is struck between growth, development and the environment.
"We're laying the foundation now so that these vibrant regions can continue to grow sustainably and successfully."
