Plant Tree For Mum: Bayside

Residents are invited to celebrate Mum, or a special mother figure in their lives, in a meaningful and lasting way this Mother's Day, by planting a native tree that will grow for generations to come.

Planting a tree is a great way to honour your mother and can also serve as a cherished living memorial for mums who have passed.

Our Trees for Mum events will be held in Botany on Saturday 9 May 2026 at:

  • Sir Joseph Banks Park, Tupia St, Botany

    from 9am to 1pm

Registration is essential and closes on Sunday 3 May 2026.

Set against the beautiful natural surrounds of the park, this event will not only celebrate the important women in our lives but also play a vital role in expanding Bayside's urban tree canopy and enhancing local biodiversity.

This free event is a wonderful opportunity to get outdoors, connect with nature, and take part in a hands-on activity that the whole family can enjoy. Council staff will be on hand to guide participants through the planting process, with all tools and materials provided.

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and sun protection, including a hat and sunscreen.

Attendees are invited to bring along a recycled container (with drainage holes and able to hold around one litre of soil) to create a personalised take-home planter. Soil and plants will be provided, so you can continue the celebration at home with your own living keepsake.

Spaces are limited, and registration is essential, so be sure to secure your spot and be part of this special day of connection, reflection and growth.
