Hosted by Tennis SA and Tennis Australia in conjunction with the City of Playford, TennisGear and the Playford Tennis Club, the combined men's ATP Challenger and women's ITF World Tennis Tour Australian Pro Tour event will offer a total prize pool of more than AUD $240,000 along with valuable world ranking points.
This year's tournament holds extra significance as the final event offering points in the Australian Open Main Draw Singles Wildcard Race, ensuring a highly competitive men's and women's field in the lead up to Australia's summer of tennis.
Previous competitors include 2022 Wimbledon champion and 2023 Australian Open finalist Elena Rybakina, 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu and 2022 and 2023 Roland Garros finalist Casper Ruud.
In 2024, homegrown players Madison Inglis (WA) and Rinky Hijikata (NSW) took out the titles in a strong field, continuing Australia's proud history at the event.
City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty welcomed the return of the tournament, noting that the pro tour series will be alive in Playford.
"The City of Playford Tennis International has cemented its place on the world stage, delivering top-quality tennis and earning recognition from the Women's World Tennis Tour as an exemplary tournament."
"This year's tournament will take place in November, leading into Australia's grand summer of tennis and welcoming elite players to our Playford Tennis Centre, a venue purpose-built for events of this calibre."
Tennis SA CEO Debbie Sterrey expressed her excitement about the return of the tournament:
"We are delighted to once again bring world-class tennis to the City of Playford. The calibre of athletes who compete here demonstrates the event's reputation as a premier stop on the Pro Tour calendar."
"Thank you to the City of Playford for their ongoing support of this tournament, which continues to deliver outstanding opportunities for players and spectators alike. We look forward to welcoming the community to enjoy this incredible week of tennis."
Tournament Director and Tennis SA Head of Competitive Play Dylan Hicks said the event is perfectly placed in the calendar:
"The City of Playford Tennis International has established itself as one of the premier stops on the Pro Tour calendar."
"With it being the final opportunity for players to earn points in the Australian Open Wildcard Race, we expect a very strong and competitive field here in Playford. It's the perfect way to launch into Australia's biggest tennis season."
The full player field for the City of Playford Tennis International will be announced in mid-November.
Entry is free and spectators are encouraged to attend and enjoy the action live at the Playford Tennis Centre.
