Playford's First Author Night Market: Treat for Your Shelf

Treat your shelf to Playford's inaugural Author Night Market
race yourselves, bookworms and culture enthusiasts! Playford Civic Centre is set to turn into a literary wonderland this December, with Playford Library and Writers SA, teaming up to host the city's first-ever Author Night Market.

The free event will feature over 30 local business stallholders and a stellar line-up of authors, including Mercedes Mercier, Heather Taylor Johnson, R Max Tillsley and Stefanie Dawn giving live pitches and performances to the crowd.

Mayor Glenn Docherty said the event would be a great opportunity for Playford's aspiring writers to learn and listen from prominent names within the industry.

"Council proudly hosts a diverse range of events across our city, this is just one of the ways we are helping our community to connect and find opportunities to achieve their personal goals."

"We have so many fantastic aspiring authors in Playford and this is a unique chance to get alongside like-minded people, get inspired and find books that you may not find in your local bookstore," said Mayor Glenn Docherty.

Attendees will be able to browse through an eclectic mix of items as stallholders showcase and sell an array of goodies, including books, book accessories, candles, pastries, crystals, earrings, keychains and so much more.

The market is open to all 16+ years with the first 70 visitors receiving a free drink voucher for the popular Adelaide mocktail specialist, Don't Mock Me, who will be adding a dash of flavour to the night.
