Playgrounds to reopen on Monday

Outdoor playgrounds within the Swan Hill Rural City Council are set to reopen on Monday following the State Government's slight easing of COVID-19 restrictions for regional Victoria.

At 11.59pm on September 13 regional Victoria is set to move to the second step of state government's reopening roadmap.

Swan Hill Rural City Council Mayor, Bill Moar said under the changes, playgrounds will reopen with some limits on their use still in place.

"Physical distancing limits will apply in playgrounds and residents are asked to keep at least 1.5 metres apart from others.

"At this stage whilst playgrounds will be reopening, skate parks will remain closed.

"Outdoor pools are still on track for the traditional November reopening," he added.

Cr Moar urged residents to keep doing the right thing.

"I urge everyone to keep doing the right thing and wear a mask, maintain social distancing, practice good hygiene, get tested and stay home if you have symptoms," Cr Moar said.

Cr Moar said council had begun planning for a move to step three amid disappointment over the recently announced roadmap.

"We know businesses across our region are hurting, this has not been the news that they were hoping for," he said.
