From ballet workshops to a lifestyle expo there's something to suit every taste during Seniors Week 2019 on the Sunshine Coast.
More than 60 exhibitors will turn out to showcase the opportunities available to older Sunshine Coast residents at the free IAgeWell Expo taking place at Sunshine Coast Council's Venue 114 on Wednesday August 21 from 9.30am-2pm.
Designed for those in their 50s and beyond, the expo will feature exhibitors covering a diverse range of topics including recreation and fitness, employment and education, finance and business, fashion accessories and more.
Entertainment includes presentations from University of the Third Age Sunshine Coast, tap dancing, ukulele performances, a solo performance from musician Ken O'Flaherty as well as Bronte's Band DownUnder and a fashion show.
A range of seminars will also be offered covering everything from health to transitioning to retirement, spirituality, downsizing, estate planning and superannuation.
Residents and visitors also have the opportunity to try a new activity during Seniors Week with Queensland Ballet holding a series of workshops at Venue 114 on Monday August 19.
Community portfolio councillor Jenny McKay said at just $8 per workshop, the classes are a wonderful way to try a new activity.
"Ballet is a terrific way to increase fitness, improve your stamina and have lots of fun along the way and the classes are suitable for all levels of experience – including beginners," Cr McKay said.
Bookings for the ballet workshops are essential.
Cr McKay said another event not to be missed was the Healthy Ageing Partnership's Seniors Week morning tea on Thursday August 22.
Taking place at the Maroochy RSL, the morning tea will feature delicious treats, a range of entertainment and opportunity to make new friends.
