The Council for Science and Technology (CST), which serves as the government's highest-level advisory council on science and technology, is seeking a new member with social and behavioural science expertise.

We have launched a campaign seeking a new member to join the Council for Science and Technology (CST). In this campaign, we are specifically seeking a member with social and behavioural science expertise.

CST is the government's highest-level advisory body on science and technology issues. The Council provides independent advice directly to the Prime Minister and Cabinet on strategic science and technology issues that cut across the responsibilities of individual government departments.

The Council is jointly chaired by the Government Chief Scientific Adviser, Dame Angela McLean and an independent co-chair.

The government is seeking applicants with expertise in social and behavioural science at an international level. Applicants should also have strong interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to operate at the interface between disciplines, integrate different perspectives, evaluate options and develop evidence-based recommendations.

The full details of the recruitment campaign can be found on the Public Appointments website .

The closing date for applications is 12pm on 19 January 2026.

Please only apply via the link above. Applications through third party websites will not be accepted.
