Police announce high-visibility Easter Show operation

Police have announced a high-visibility operation to ensure the safety and security of attendees at the Sydney Royal Easter Show 2023.

The operation will run between Wednesday 5 April 2023 and Monday 17 April 2023 at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, targeting criminal and anti-social behaviour.

Officers attached to South-West Metropolitan Region and Auburn Police Area Command will be assisted by specialist officers, including from the Public Transport Command, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, and Youth Command.

South-West Metropolitan Region Commander, Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith, said police will not tolerate criminal, aggressive or anti-social behaviour.

"Police are working closely with event organisers and relevant stakeholders to ensure we have the strategies and resources in place to make the Easter Show an enjoyable day out for all.

"The safety of the community is our number one priority – and with that in mind – police will be out in numbers at the show," Assistant Commissioner Smith said.

In conjunction with the operation, Strike Force APACE has been established to identify individuals that pose a risk to public safety and whose access to the venue will be restricted under a Public Safety Order (PSO).

"Strike force detectives are using intelligence to proactively ban those who could pose a risk to the community," Assistant Commissioner Smith said.

"The message is simple: anyone looking for trouble is not welcome at the show and will be dealt with accordingly."
