Police appeal after assault and break, enter and steal in Tamworth

Police are appealing for information to locate a vehicle – which is believed to be linked to two incidents in the state's north-east last night.

Police have been told an 81-year-old man parked his motorhome on the corner of Brisbane Street and Out Street, while the 15-year-old boy he was travelling with went across the road to a fast food outlet, about 7.20pm (Sunday 30 June 2019).

Moments later, an unknown male entered the passenger door of the vehicle and demanded the man's wallet, while kicking him and threatening him with a knife.

The man opened the driver-side door and fell out of his seat, and the unknown man ran off in a southerly direction along Out Street.

The boy returned to the vehicle a short time later to find the man shaken from the incident, but uninjured.

Officers from Oxley Police District were notified and commenced an investigation.

A short time later, two men entered a home on Dowell Avenue, and threatened a 21-year-old man while demanding cash.

The two men took a wallet and cash before fleeing the scene.

Following inquiries, police believe a Silver Mitsubishi Lancer with NSW registration CP78ZS, may be linked to both incidents and are appealing for anyone with information or dash cam footage to come forward.

Anyone with information about these incidents is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
