Police appeal for information after assault - Burwood

Police have appealed to the community for assistance after a man was seriously assaulted at Burwood overnight.

About 4.45am (Saturday 8 June 2019), a number of people were involved in an incident in a licensed premises on Burwood Road, and were removed by security staff.

Outside the premises a 20-year-old man was assaulted by another man who fled from the area.

Police from Burwood Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Ambulance Paramedics treated the injured man and conveyed him to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with serious injuries.

Police detained two men who have been taken to Burwood Police Station.

Inquiries continue to identify and locate two other men who are believed to have been involved in the assault.

The first man has been described to police as being of Caucasian appearance with a large build and wearing a grey hoodie.

The second man is described as also wearing a grey hoodie and has brown/red hair and a beard.

Both men fled on foot prior to police arrival.
