Northern Territory Police are investigating a report of a child being assaulted in Tennant Creek yesterday afternoon.
Detectives from Tennant Creek and Alice Springs are investigating to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, Northern Territory Police say.
A person of interest has been identified and is assisting Police with their inquiries.
The child is safe, and in the care of family at this time.
Investigators are asking for anyone with information to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers.
