Police appeal for public assistance after assault in Fitzroy North

Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery in Fitzroy North in June, Victoria Police say.

Police understand four men approached a man from behind on Rae Street about 5.30pm on 14 June.

One of the men produced a metal object and demanded the victim hand over his cash and mobile phone.

The men then physically assaulted the victim before fleeing with a sum of cash and the victim’s mobile phone.

The four men then flagged down a taxi on Nicholson Street, which drove the men back to their car.

The men escaped in a white Holden Commodore with South Australian registration plates S891BBL, which is believed to be stolen.

The victim sustained extensive injuries as a result of the armed robbery, including bruising, swelling and a deep laceration to his head as well as bruising to his ribs and both his arms.

Police have released images of two men who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
