Police appeal for public assistance to identify car thief

Prahran police are appealing for public assistance to identify a man following the theft of a car from a South Yarra car wash earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

The theft occurred at the Punt Road car wash while the owner of the white Mercedes E63 sedan was having coffee as his car was washed on 6 August.

Over the next three days the car was used in the theft of number plates from five other vehicles in the Melbourne CBD area.

The white Mercedes was located parked on Franklin Street on 9 August.

Police have released two images of a man they believe can assist them with their enquiries.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
