Police appeal for public help: Fatal traffic crash at Mirani

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a motorist who may be able to provide vital information regarding a fatal traffic crash at Mirani on March 20.

Preliminary information suggests a four-wheel-drive was stationary on a driveway to a property off Mackay Eungella Road when it was struck by a white Mitsubishi sedan travelling west around 7.50pm.

The driver and sole occupant of the four-wheel-drive, a 35-year-old Mirani man, suffered significant injuries as a result of the collision and died at the scene.

The driver of the sedan, a 33-year-old East Mackay man, was transported to the Mackay Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have released dash cam vision of a vehicle that was travelling between Marian and Mirani between 7.40 and 7.45pm. It is described as a dark coloured sedan. The motorist has not committed an offence.

The Forensic Crash Unit is appealing for the driver of this vehicle, or anyone who may have further information, to come forward.
