Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a multi-vehicle collision in Tullamarine this evening.
It is understood five vehicles and a truck collided nose to tail while travelling along the Tullamarine Freeway, near the Mickleham Road exit, just after 5.30pm.
One of the drivers was taken to hospital with critical injuries.
Four drivers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the scene, and the male truck driver is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
The Tullamarine Freeway inbound near the Mickleham Road exit is closed and diversions are in place.
Investigators are keen to speak to anyone that witnessed or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident.
