Police appeal to locate missing man at Maclean

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man missing from the state's Clarence Valley region.

John Parkes, aged 75, was last seen leaving his home in Maclean about 6am on Monday (11 October 2021) in a silver Subaru XV sedan, with NSW registration plates BDX 38X.

Family members reported him missing to police later that day, and officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Officers conducted extensive land searches in Maclean yesterday (Tuesday 12 October 2021) and searches of the Clarence River along Yamba and River Roads, however neither he nor his vehicle are yet to be located.

A further search will be conducted of the Clarence River today, with assistance from the Marine Area Command and police divers.

Police and family hold grave concerns for his welfare due to his age and medical conditions.

John is described as being of Caucasian appearance, between 165cm to 170cm tall, of a thin build, grey hair, with no facial hair and blue eyes.

He is known to frequent many locations in the Maclean area.

Anyone who may have seen John or his silver Subaru XV sedan with registration BDX 38X is urged to contact police.
