Police appeals for help to locate man from Hay

Police are appealing for public assistance as a search continues to locate a man reported missing from Hay.

Benson Lucas, aged 34, was last seen at a home on Meakes Street last Friday (5 July 2019).

He failed to attend an appointment on Monday (8 July 2019) and officers from Murrumbidgee Police District were notified.

Police were told Benson regularly leaves town to go camping and following a search of local camp grounds, his vehicle was located on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River yesterday (Tuesday 9 July 2019).

State Emergency Services (SES) personnel assisted police with a search of the river banks; however, Benson was not located.

A further land and water search has been conducted today (Wednesday 10 July 2019), with the assistance of SES personnel. It has since been suspended and will resume tomorrow morning (Thursday 11 July 2019).

Police and family have concerns for his welfare and are now appealing for public assistance.

Benson is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall, large build, with brown hair and brown eyes.
