Police are responding to double fatal crash, Calliope

Police are appealing for witnesses after two lives were lost in a crash at Calliope this morning.

Just before 7.30am, a passing motorist noticed a Toyota Corolla crashed on the side of Gladstone Monto Road.

The two occupants of the car, a 48-year-old woman and a nine-year-old boy, died as a result of the crash.

Preliminary investigations suggest the car left the road and crashed into a tree sometime overnight.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who travelled through the area overnight and observed the green Toyota Corolla, to come forward.
