Police are responding to fatal collision in Myrtlebank

Police are investigating a fatal head-on collision in Myrtlebank this afternoon.

It's understood the two vehicles, a sedan and a grey utility, collided on Myrtlebank Road near Maffra-Sale Road about 4.30pm on 3 January.

The sedan burst into flames before the fire was extinguished by emergency services.

Sadly, the driver of the sedan, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The male driver and female passenger of the grey utility, which was towing a caravan, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Wellington Highway Patrol officers are investigating the cause of the collision.
