Police are responding to fatal crash at Elizabeth Downs

A man has died after being hit by a car at Elizabeth Downs overnight.

Emergency services responded to reports of a collision in Johnston Road, Elizabeth Downs at 1am on Wednesday 30 August.

A pedestrian was found in the street with critical injuries.

The driver had left the scene before emergency services arrived.

Sadly, the 32-year-old man died at the scene.

Major Crash investigators attended and examined the scene.

The alleged driver, a 29-year-old Craigmore woman, presented at the Elizabeth Police Station and is currently being interviewed by Major Crash officers.

Her Holden station wagon was towed from her home address for forensic examination.

The man's death is the 77th on South Australian roads so far this year compared to 48 at the same time last year.
