Emergency services were called to School Road, between Princes Highway and Shell Parade, about 12.35am after a badly damaged utility vehicle was discovered.

The driver and only occupant of the ute, a 30-year-old Corio man, had sadly died prior to emergency services arriving.

The exact cause and time of the crash is yet to be determined, but it is believed the ute was travelling east on School Road before rolling into fencing and a tree.

Police will prepare a report for Coroner and ask that anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dash cam footage, call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
