Police are responding to fatal crash at McLaren Vale, South Australia

A woman has died in a crash at McLaren Vale last night.

Just after 10pm on Wednesday 24 February, police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Main Road and Malpas Road, after reports of a head-on collision involving a Mazda SUV and a Mitsubishi utility.

A passenger in the Mazda, a 19-year-old Willunga woman died at the scene.

The driver of the Mazda and three other passengers were taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

The three occupants of the Mitsubishi were also taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Major Crash officers attended the scene to investigate the collision. Roads were closed in the area for most of the night but have since reopened.

The woman's death takes the number of lives lost on South Australian roads to 15, the same amount at this time last year.
