Police are responding to fatal crash - Central Desert Region 7 October

Northern Territory Police are investigating a fatal crash near Yulara overnight.

Around 4am, reports were received of a single vehicle rollover on the Lasseter Highway, about 17km east of Yulara.

A Mitsubishi sedan, carrying three occupants, crashed and rolled several times. Passing motorists stopped to render assistance.

Police from Yulara attended and performed CPR on a male passenger who was ejected from the vehicle. Local clinic nurses arrived to provide emergency care. The man, aged in his 30's, was later declared deceased at the scene.

Two females, the driver and other passenger both aged in their 20's, suffered non-life threatening injuries and are in the process of being transferred to hospital for treatment.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said "Major Crash detectives are investigating the circumstances of the crash with local police."

"Any witnesses who saw the crash or anyone who attended a social function with those involved prior to the crash are urged to contact police to assist the investigation."

"Alcohol is believed to be involved and a sample of the driver's blood will be subject to forensic toxicology."
