Police are responding to fatal crash - Darwin

Northern Territory Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on the Stuart Highway in The Narrows this afternoon.

At around 5.30 pm, police and emergency services responded to a report of a crash involving a bus and a pedestrian outside of a bus shelter. The driver of the bus stopped immediately.

A 57-year-old female was found to be deceased on the road. Police established road diversions to facilitate a crime scene pending arrival of investigators.

Detectives from Crime Division, including Major Crash detectives, attended to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said, "Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly motorists with dash cam footage who travelled along Stuart Highway through The Narrows between 5.00 pm and 5.30pm."

Motorists travelling inbound are advised that the road diversions are expected to remain in place until late this evening.
