Police are responding to fatal crash, Fernvale

A man has died and a woman is in a critical condition following a two vehicle crash at Fernvale this morning (February 11).

Initial investigations indicate just before 7.30am two vehicles, a Hyundai Excel and Suzuki Swift, crashed at the intersection of Forrest Hill Fernvale Road and Fielding Road.

A 58-year-old Birkdale man, the driver of the Hyundai, was transported in a critical condition to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.

A 28-year-old Birkdale man, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported in a stable condition to Ipswich Hospital.

A 77-year-old Lowood woman, the driver and sole occupant of the Suzuki, was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
