Melbourne Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash in Richmond this morning.
It is understood a car crashed into a pole on Bridge Road about 5am.
The vehicle then veered into the front of a shop.
The male driver, who is yet to be formally identified, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and has sadly died.
Police are continuing to establish the exact circumstances around the crash and investigations are ongoing.
