Police are responding to fatal crash, Kanimbla

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a single vehicle crash at Kanimbla this afternoon which claimed the life of a Cairns man.

Preliminary information suggests the vehicle the man was driving lost control on Brinsmead Road (Western Arterial Road) at around 12.55pm and collided with a power pole.

A 43-year-old Westcourt man, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was trapped for a period of time before being transported to Cairns Hospital where he passed away.

Anyone who witnessed the crash and has not spoken to police or any drivers with relevant dashcam vision are asked to contact police (details below).
