Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash - Lithgow

A driver has died following a crash in state's Central Tablelands this morning.

About 2.10am Friday 3 July 2026, emergency services responded to the Great Western Highway, west of Lithgow, after reports of a head on crash involving a light truck and utility.

The driver of the utility died at the scene; he is yet to be formally identified, however, believed to be in his 20s.

The driver of the truck, a 59-year-old man, and his passenger, a 15-year-old boy, were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedic as a precaution.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The highway remains closed and localised traffic diversions are in place. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
