Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash - Padbury

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Padbury on Sunday, 24 May 2026.

About 7.20pm, police received reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the northbound lanes of the Mitchell Freeway between Hepburn Avenue and Whitfords Avenue.

Emergency services, including St John WA, attended and located a 22-year-old male victim with critical injuries. He died at the scene.

The alleged driver left the area and later attended Joondalup Police Station, where he was arrested and taken into custody.

A 30-year-old male from Iluka has been charged with:

• 1 x Driver failed to stop and ensure assistance received after incident occasioning death

• 1 x Being the driver involved in an incident occasioning death/grievous bodily harm failed to report incident to WA Police

He was refused bail and is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Monday, 25 May 2026.
