Five teenage boys have been arrested following a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle in Sydney's southwest last night.
About 11.45pm on Saturday 25 April 2026, police attached to Task Force Falcon were conducting proactive patrols of the Merrylands area when they saw a black Subaru sedan being driven in the area.
Checks revealed they vehicle had been reported stolen from a recent break enter and steal offence at Blacktown on Friday 17 April 2026.
When the vehicle failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued through the back streets of Merrylands, before the vehicle turned into Lackey Street, Merrylands – a dead end street.
The five teenage occupants of the car left on foot, closely followed by police.
A short time later, all occupants of the vehicle were arrested with the assistance of Cumberland Highway Patrol, Cumberland Police, the Dog Unit, and officers from the Public Order and Riot Squad and Operational Support Group.
All five boys were taken to Parramatta Police Station.
A 15-year-old boy was charged with take and drive conveyance taken without consent of owner and police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly. He was refused bail to appear in a childrens court today (Sunday 26 April 2026), where he was granted conditional bail, to appear in a childrens court on Tuesday 5 May 2026
A second 15-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner. He was refused bail to appear in a childrens court today (Sunday 26 April 2026), where he was granted conditional bail, to appear in a childrens court on Friday 8 May 2026.
Three other boys – aged 14, 15 and 15 – will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
