Police arrest man after Belmont stabbing and fire

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an alleged burglary, stabbing and fire in Belmont this morning.

It is alleged a man forced entry into a property on Donald Street about 6.20am, before stabbing a woman.

She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The man allegedly started a fire in the house before fleeing the scene on a bike.

The other people in the property, including two children, were not injured.

The parties are believed to be known to each other.

The 23-year-old Whittington man was arrested nearby and is assisting police with their enquiries.
